Italgas Largo Regio Parco 11

Redevelopment of the headquarter building

Italgas
Turin

In 2017, ITALGAS S.p.A.  entrusted Giugiaro Architettura with the exterior and interior redevelopment project of its headquarters, in the historic site of Largo Regio Parco 11 in Turin.

The external intervention included the cleaning and consolidation of the stone facades, new roof systems, new scenographic lighting, as well as the introduction of versatile and iconic roof gardens on the terraces.

The design of the internal facades, in the courtyard, is characterized by protruding intrados designed to mitigate solar irradiation, also via the metal panels surrounding the glass walkway connecting the wings of the building and the emergency staircase, which thus becomes a sculptural element.

The interiors, organized in open space areas, are designed to be modular to allow the most flexible working methods. On the ground and basement floor is the Heritage Lab, an exhibition area with the digitization laboratories of the Italgas historical archive.

The basement overlooks the external area of the courtyard via a wooden staircase inserted in the green garden, which can also be enjoyed from the upper floor. In the basement is a company gym to be used by employees.

Both the construction site and the project were strongly the most modern and sophisticated technologies and ideas for environmental sustainability. The development obtained the LEED Gold Certification.
